Farm Animal Week is our annual awareness-raising week which encourages shoppers to choose higher welfare products such as Freedom Food.

This year the week begins on Monday 15 July 2013 and we have lots of ways you can support Freedom Food and help raise awareness of farm animal welfare:

We’ll be urging shoppers to think about the animals that produce our food and help improve their lives by switching at least one item in their shopping baskets to a higher welfare product such as Freedom Food.

• Sainsbury’s will once again be donating 5p to the RSPCA to support its farm animal work when shoppers buy selected Freedom Food labelled products between Wednesday 3 July and Sunday 21 July. This is fantastic news as last year Sainsbury’s helped us raise more than £45,000 for the RSPCA.

Volunteers for local RSPCA branches will also be collecting outside some Sainsbury's stores thoughout Farm Animal Week. The money raised will help fund RSPCA branches' local animal welfare work.

• If you’re planning to get out and about this summer, why not take your camera with you and capture some quirky farm animals on camera? On Friday 7 June we’ll be launching our Fab Farm Animals photo contest and the lucky winner will receive a brilliant Canon EOS 1100D digital SLR camera, plus accessories. More info coming soon….
